About

With a diverse background, having lived in Syria, France, Jordan, and Australia, Yaman has carved a niche for himself in the fields of medical research, gene technology, and nanomedicine.

After obtaining his pharmacy degree at the University of Israa in Jordan and further advancing with a master's and Ph.D. at Griffith University, he played a pivotal role in establishing the Griffith Nanomedicine Biofundry in Australia. There, he developed a COVID antiviral treatment utilizing RNA interference, subsequently securing licensing for clinical trials.

Yaman is the Founder and CEO of Prorenata Biotech, a research and development centre specializing in gene-based therapeutics and drug delivery using nanoparticles. Under his leadership, the company has secured significant funding and key partnerships for its flagship projects.

Yaman's discovery of Stars of Science was influenced by his sister and fiancé, both avid viewers of the show in Doha. Inspired, he aimed to showcase his ideas globally. Despite making it to last year's casting with a unique concept, unforeseen scheduling issues prevented his participation. This year, Yaman returns, driven to introduce a project poised to transform gene therapy research and application.

About the Project

Yaman’s project features a cost-effective kit for producing lipid nanoparticles (LNPs), crucial for gene therapy delivery. This innovative device aims to simplify gene therapy creation, making it accessible to researchers worldwide without needing extensive expertise. It facilitates the transport of genetic materials into cells, an essential technique in gene therapies for treating various diseases, including infections, genetic disorders, and cancers.

Yaman's vision extends beyond immediate research applications to future clinical use, where personalized gene therapies could be developed in hospitals and clinics. His work exemplifies a commitment to breaking down barriers in medical research, fostering innovation in gene therapy, and contributing to the global fight against diseases through accessible, cost-effective solutions.

Impact

Yaman's invention represents a step forward in addressing the complexities and cost associated with gene therapy, the potential to enable more accessible medical research and treatment paradigms worldwide.

By participating in the show, Yaman seeks to showcase Arab innovation, using it as a platform to elevate regional contributions to a global audience. He views the show as the perfect catalyst to refine his gene therapy tool, highlighting its commitment to turning innovative concepts into tangible solutions.

Yaman encourages Arab innovators to embrace their creative journey, stressing the value in the process itself and urging them to innovate from within, celebrating the path of discovery as much as the end achievements.
