Lights, camera, action! It was time for the top 6 candidates to roll out their fully designed, fully equipped products in front of a jury comprised of Dr. Fouad Mrad and Rashed Ibrahim. Alongside the permanent jury was VIP juror and world renowned designer Hicham Lahlou and Education City juror Dean Allyson Vanstone from Virginia Commonwealth University in Qatar.

With her delicate eye for detail and his expertise in design, the jurors were prepared to witness a spectacular display of products with a great presentation supporting each one.

Maha was the first to present her newly tailored air conditioned jacket, and this time there was a mannequin in the room to help display it. Juror Rashed Ibrahim was quick on pointing out that her product does not serve the traditional Arab dresses.

Anis came into the studio driving his fully designed motorized shopping trolley for the disabled and with full confidence he explained the design of his product. Dr. Fouad Mrad continued to point out the aerodynamics of the trolley, saying that the 10 cm step is crucial to handicaps and was not taken in full consideration, but Anis was quick to stay on his defense.

Alongside her own mannequin, Hind confidently stood still and displayed her custom made swimming goggles without having to run around the studio to test that it works – as she did in the previous round of elimination.

Sadek came after Hind to present his product, the Alchemist, to the jury. With its colorful and branded appearance, the Alchemist had clearly impressed the jury on the level of design, but permanent juror Rashed Ibrahim was skeptical about the placement of the emergency button and criticized that it placed too closely to all the other buttons. Sadek made it clear that safety should be a quick accessible feature in case of emergency.

Riding his motorized walker for the elderly into the studio, Ahmad stunned the jury with the improvement the product has made over the past week, in design and functionality. After presenting all its features, Ahmad finally showed how his product can be foldable and compact, able to fit in the backseat of any car.

The last to present their fully designed product was Abdallah, with his robotic joint with 2-degrees of freedom. Unable to show off its physical appearance, Abdallah chose to display its smooth functionality by placing the joint in a cylinder glass object in order to impressively demonstrate its 2-degree of freedom as it follows a random path of red rope. VIP juror, Hicham Lahlou, called the product “revolutionary” as he tested its functionality himself.

After watching all 6 presentations, the jury had made their decisions and the results were ready to be presented and this time only 1 person will be eliminated from the contest:

•    Ahmad Al Ghazi was rewarded first place with 92% for his motorized walker for the elderly.

•    In second, Abdallah Abou Zeid was given 90% for his robotic rotation joint with 2-degress of freedom.

•    Sadek Qassim came in 3rd with 81% for his automated multi-functional lab tester for oil samples.

•    Taking the 4th spot with 80%, was Anis Sobhi for his motorized shopping trolley and lifter for elderly and disabled users.

•    In last place and moving to the next round of Business was Hind Hobeika who earned 71% for her swimming goggles measure swimmer’s heart rate with real time alert.
