Ahmad Smaili earned a PhD, an MS and BS degrees in mechanical engineering from Tennessee Technological University (TTU). Dr. Smaili served on the faculty of engineering at Mississippi State University (MSU), Tennessee Technological University and the American University of Beirut (AUB). He also held several administrative positions including President and Vice President for Academic Affairs at Rafik Hariri University, Dean of Academic Support Services at the University of Sharjah, Dean of the College of Engineering and Deputy Vice Chancellor at Dhofar University in the Sultanate of Oman, and Provost at Fahad Bin Sultan University in Saudi Arabia. Dr. Smaili received the 1990 Outstanding Faculty Member Award (MSU); the 1995 and 1996 Kinslow Research Award (TTU); and the 2003-2004 Teaching Excellence Award (AUB). Dr. Smaili has authored/co-authored over 80 technical articles and reports including the Applied Mechatronicstextbook, published by Oxford University Press in 2007. Dr. Smaili served as the National Consultant for the European Training Federation and UNESCO on the Governance and Employability, and Teachers and Instructors Training in Vocational Education and Training in Lebanon.
